It was an absolute pleasure to facilitate a high-performance team-building workshop with motivation for the staff of the Constitution HillHuman rights precinct. It is a living museum that tells the story of South Africa’s journey to democracy. The site is a former prison and military fort that bears testament to South Africa’s turbulent past and, today, is home to the country’s Constitutional Court, which endorses the rights of all citizens. Its past includes famous inmates namely Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, and Mahatma Gandhi.
The workshop included:
Module One. Context – are you successful and significant?
Module two. Differentiators – what makes you different?
Module three. High-Performance Teamwork
Turning up (having your say – where you are not allowed to leave and say – I could have told them)
Critical thinking (facing up to reality by interrogating why do you think what you think?)
Culture alignment (what are the conflicting realities between management and staff?)
Collaborative conflict management (creating new value through understanding conflict management options – you will be sent a confidential questionnaire)
Opening the window of communication to better understand each other
Module four. Mental toughness
(Giving your best performance consistently despite what happens inside your mind and outside you)
Team activities. Relevant, safe team activities where appropriate and depending on the client’s time allocation
In this instance, we had a Jerusalema dance session.
